I have sailed on MSC 4 times since 2012. Hubby and I love them but prefer the smaller ships. Also, all the pasta, bread, and mozzarella are fresh made on board. 😋 MSC is the only cruise line where I eat pasta.

My sister and I went to the Promenade Cafe at 3:30 in the morning for coffee and pastries. There were other people asleep in the cabin. We took our tray back to the cabin to enjoy on the balcony. No one minded and we all had a good laugh. We wouldn't have ever thought to wear them to a restaurant or the Windjammer.

I am one who believes in treating people decently and so i tip generously, unless the service is really poor. In the US where i live, tips are a part of the income in many service jobs, whether or not they are automatically added. In other words, the wage paid may be low since the tip is supposed to make up part of the employee's income. I also have seen too many people who are cheap and rather than budget and order what they can afford while still leaving a reasonable tip, they justify no limits for themselves then stiff on the tip. Someone who has so little money should save for a few months more till they can afford to go on the cruise without cheating the people taking care of them. I do think cruise companies should clearly specify when gratuities will be included (and how much). And what gratuities people are generally expected to pay. But truthfully those companies who pay their staff decently AND specify no gratuities are allowed can be a relief.

In italy a lot of the time you can stand and have your coffee at the bar rather than at the table. Tables cost. Will be sure to take my linen clothing for that sun!

I’ve been on 25 cruises, 5 of which have been with MSC. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world. 3 of those cruises have been from South America to Europe, my last one a 25 day cruise. What I like is that despite not having a lot of US passengers on those ships they have always put me in a dinner table group with other passengers with English as their primary language. On one cruise a couple of my table mates were headliners on the ships shows. The Italian and Seafood on MSC is fantastic. I will be on the Seascape when MSC starts cruising out of Galveston.

After cruising for 10 years-all I can say is Americans have ruined the most places because they think they can buy respect or service.

We did an msc cruise from Barcelona and loved it.

Old school used to be you don't dress formally for dinner only on the first night shipboard. Every night was formal in the formal dinning room.

I owned 4 hot tubs 105.4 is the best temp. but if you are drinking beer or wine 102 is the max because you will get sick if you sit in it more that 15 minutes.

We went on MSC Seashore out of Miami a couple of years ago. We had the Aurea experience and had a private hot tub on our balcony which was awesome! Overall ,we had a wonderful cruise. We did rent one of the cabanas on their private island. It was really nice because it so hot and the shade was nice. However, we had kept having people ask to take our loungers from the front of the cabana. It was my first MSC cruise and I was not sure if we were responsible for keeping track of the chairs or not, so initially I said “no”, but then a person became upset with me and made the statement that it was only my husband and I and we did not need the other two loungers. It was awkward. Looking back I would have happily offered them to someone I just was not sure if we were responsible for them as we were renting the space. The only other issues we had on that particular cruise were embarkation, disembarkation and at times long waits to get drinks. We are sailing again with MSC on the Virtousa this October on the Yacht Club out of Southampton,UK. It will be our first Yacht Club experience so we are looking forward to it. We will also be sailing on P and O, Iona out of Southampton a week after our MSC cruise. We are from Oregon and we enjoy the European cruises but also the cost is a lot less than some of the US cruises and also we enjoy hearing all the different languages aboard.

What about milk shakes, and or fruit smoothies...are these included?

We have had a portable fan confiscated. I'm not sure why because we have taken it on 4 other cruises.

Only thing i'd not agree with is prohibitions on asking what someone does for work. Obviously intrusive questions, passing judgment on someones work and/or expecting free personal service are not cool! But otherwise friendly appropriate conversation is often welcomed by staff and strangers alike. Those who don't want to talk can always say so! My parents were world travelers. My dad always used to show friendly (but appropriate) interest in waiters, taxi drivers, and strangers he came in close proximity to while traveling. He was well liked and remembered him for it. Their favorite tour guides invited them on special elite trips tailored to their interests and/ or became personal friends who came on invitation to visit them at home when in our home country!

We love MSC. Four cruises booked this year and 2 of them are total free from playing in the casino 😊

Thanks for sharing this review on MSC with us. I have heard terrible things about them, specially when food is concerned. I have never cruised with them, only with Royal. I should get to diamond plus tier in Crown and Anchor Society soon, so I am waiting for that in order to status match with MSC and then request a free cruise with them, since I also have some status in Club Royale. I have heard other doing the exact same and not even having to pay cruise taxes and fees. Free should be free after all.

I prefer private excursions. However, there was only one I did not like and it was through Shore Excursions Group. The guy was not very good and constantly asking for tips. So even though a private group rarely gets you back late and is very safe, ultimately it depends on the guide. Ours in Roatan was not good.

After getting caught with a bottle of Canadian Whiskey, my father would pack two bottles, get called to the naughty room, walk to his bag, zip it open, pull out one bottle, walk it to the counter, sigh and say"you caught me" check the bottle and head to the room with his suitcase and second bottle safe. This was late 90s, early 00s so they may be looking for visual checks now, but he got his late night in room nightcap and was pretty proud he figure out the hack

Not only is having a lot of Europeans onboard something that "isn't bad" - it's absolutely great!!! Makes for very interesting conversations and the potential of new international friends!

I'd suggest smoking in only approved areas, but downwind of people too. (For people who are allergic it's dangerous.) Use earbuds/ earphones if you want to play music so that others who want silence or to listen to the natural sounds are not forced to listen.

We visited the fjords in 2019 on Holland America, as par,t of our 21-day repositioning cruise on Nieuw Amersterdam, from Ft. Lauderdale, to the D-Day Beaches, etc. We loved it! In August this year, we will be sailing on another 21-day cruise on Nieuw Amersterdam, from Amersterdam to two fjords we didn't see in 2019, then on to Iceland, Greenland, the Shetland and Faroe Islands, Edenburgh, and back to Amersterdam.

I haven't taken a cruise yet but I have traveled and seen cruise ships so i'd add the following from the perspective of those residing in ports... Use the bathroom prior to debarking. (Once on shore if you need to go...find a bathroom.) A friend who lived on an island frequented by cruise ships owned a small beach front property. She said she had a tender from a cruise ship drop off 50 people on the island who all then decided to use her beach as their personal bathroom, leaving feces and tissue paper strewn everywhere. Ditto re your trash. Take it back to the ship or throw it in appropriate receptacles. Also do not act rudely to local people there to serve you, or assume they should cater to you because you are running late. Consider yourself an emissary of the ship, and behave appropriately.

The main dining room was very good and didn’t buy any extra food or beverages options, did not feel like we were missing anything. Also no beverage package. Only missed having some good music options, the main area was screaming loud couldn’t leave that area fast enough. Loved the private island brought my own snorkel gear. They were allowing children in the adults only pool so not happy about that. That was per management decision. Got off with only 1 excursion per person and gratuities on my credit card. Can be a very reasonable priced vacation.

Not being able to bring your own wine or soda is a deal breaker for me. Must be trying to force people to get the drink package.

While I enjoy your videos, you have made it perfectly clear that it's not my idea of fun. Virtually every rule would apply to me resulting in a less then enjoyable use of my time.

I did the YC on Seascape and really liked it. But the included food was mostly meh IMO, even in the YC restaurant. It’s fine and edible of course, but I found myself skipping the buffet and mostly doing specialty dining. Pro tip on specialty dining - skip the package and just go a la carte (the sushi restaurant is only a la carte BTW, and it’s great - loved you showing the shots of it!). If you’re on the package, you can only choose from a limited menu, rather than the full menu. Just go with the a la carte option. The steak house in particular was really excellent IMO as was the sushi. Agree that Venchi coffee place is great but you didn’t mention that they make their own fine chocolates there too! The pillow chocolates all come from there … and the syrup in your caffe mocha is the same chocolate that they use to make candy from! Overall, I found the service good but the passengers less friendly … so it wasn’t so great for a solo traveler like me compared to NCL or Celebrity for example. But you really can’t beat the MSC value especially the YC compared to the Haven or the Retreat. Agree the private island is super nice and relaxing. Thanks for the great video!

I love Formal dressing up - why not - I think society now a days dress down so much that they don’t get it or are just used to dressing down that they have forgotten how - even to church - Well anyway - that’s my two cents

I like duck idea for either crew or passenger. Imagine a crew member sending ducks back to their families they are away from for months and months. I'm getting my ducks in a row!

Regarding smoking on an MSC cruise. You cruised in America and most Americans, like Australians, don't smoke. However if you cruise with MSC in Europe, you will see alot more smoking. Europeans still smoke alot and dont see it as a problem, unfortunately.!?

How about air-conditioning in the room? Royal Caribbean, if you have your door to the balcony open, they will shot air-conditioning off. If you have the door open, will you have air in the room???

I sailed MSC in April 2024 in Spain. On my 1st day I bought a drink package for only dining areas only meeting upstairs in the Buffay or at dinner time. Which was perfect for me because I don’t drink that much and I have to have my cappuccino in the morning. Third day into the cruise they would not accept my see pass card to get my cappuccino. I want to customer service was told that corporate changed it cappuccinos are no longer included in this package. Wow how could you do that was very disappointed. My 2nd negative thing would be dinner they had poor choices compared to other cruise lines. I would probably not sale with them again.

I just finished 21 days on MSC. NCL provides coffee makers. MSC does not‼️😩Don’t compare it’s entertainment to Royal and NCL😳 MSC’s Status match is a joke‼️ I am sapphire with NCL, MSC status match me at gold😩 There Balcony cabins are a lot nicer than NCL’s❤ After 10 Cruise on NCL. I concluded why bring my gowns and nice evening clothes -very few dress up! ❤MSC cruisers dress for dinner💝💝 MSC does not huzzzzle it’s passengers like NCL‼️

Something we experienced and we did have a great cruise was we didn’t get any wash cloths We asked our room steward the first day and they told us Europeans don’t usually use them who knew , but from that point on we had them no big deal just fyi
